Race Report

RACE-2 THE GUIYANG RATING 35-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1500 METRES (228)

1 General Fu Hao (T Appie) -Was crowded for room on jumping away between 4 Wealthy Emperor and 9 Hundred Victories, both of which shifted ground slightly.
2 Lucky Star (A A Rivera) -Near the 450 metres raced up onto the heels of 11 Magnesium Alloy and had to be steadied.
4 Wealthy Emperor (M Tanaka) -Near the 250 metres was eased away from the heels of 3 Master Of Mars which was taken out slightly by 11 Magnesium Alloy which in turn was taken out by 1 General Fu Hao which shifted out slightly when inclined to lay out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Golden Wai (K H Yu) -Near the 1100 metres was checked and blundered.
6 Beautiful Beach (Apprentice X C Liang) -Near the 1100 metres when the pace of the race slowed, raced up onto the heels of 9 Hundred Victories and shifted out bumping 7 Nathan Success wider on the track. For some distance leaving the 1100 metres raced fiercely. Apprentice X C Liang dropped his whip near the 50 metres.
7 Nathan Success (K F Choi) -Near the 1100 metres was taken wider on the track after being bumped by 6 Beautiful Beach which when the pace of the race slowed raced up onto the heels of 9 Hundred Victories and shifted out. Apprentice X C Liang the rider of 6 Beautiful Beach was issued a severe reprimanded and was advised that in similar circumstances in future he would be expected to make a greater effort to steady his own mount and prevent it from shifting out.
8 Pay Me (C L Cheung) -Was marginally slow to begin. Near the 1300 metres commenced to race ungenerously and near the 1250 metres shifted out slightly and had to be checked when awkwardly placed on the heels of 2 Lucky Star which at the same time shifted in slightly when laying in. As the Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no action was taken. Near the 1100 metres was checked..

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1100 metres where both 5 Golden Wai and 8 Pay Me were checked and 5 Golden Wai blundering. Evidence was taken from the riders of 8 Pay Me (C L Cheung), 5 Golden Wai (K H Yu) 12 Cinderella Way (Y M Choi). Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 12 Cinderella Way pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 5 Golden Wai which was taken in bumping 8 Pay Me resulting in both horses 5 Golden Wai and 8 Pay Me having to be checked and 5 Golden Wai blundering. Jockey Y M Choi’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 racemeeting covering the meetings Sunday, 26 June, Saturday 2 July and Friday, 8 July 2022. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his disciplinary record, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
