Race Report

RACE-3 MACAU DERBY TRIAL 4YO (GROUP 3) 1500 METRES (251)

2 Bygone Era (L Corrales) -Near the 750 metres had its hindquarters bumped by 3 Cumberbatch which was taken out slightly by 14 Breeze 'N' Luna which shifted out slightly whilst making the turn. As the Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no action was taken. Near the 250 metres momentarily became unbalanced when bumped by 3 Cumberbatch which was maneuvered outwards around the heels of 5 Out To Win to establish clear running when not fully clear. Jockey C L Cheung the rider of 3 Cumberbatch was issued a severe reprimand and was advised that he is to be sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times.
3 Cumberbatch (C L Cheung) -Was inclined to race fiercely in the early stages. Near the 750 metres momentarily raced in restricted room and made contact with the hindquarters of 2 Bygone Era when taken out slightly by 14 Breeze 'N' Luna which shifted out slightly whilst making the turn. Leaving the 600 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 7 Yuanno which was steadied outwards to avoid the heels of 11 Racing Brothers which was yielding ground quickly. Near the 250 metres was maneuvered outwards around the heels of 5 Out To Win to establish clear running and bumped 2 Bygone Era.
4 Desi Prince (B Yamzon) -Prior to the race Trainer C F Chan informed the Stewards that from the wide barrier draw he would instructing Jockey B Yamzon to go back at the start and obtain a position with cover should circumstances permit. Near the 1350 metres commenced to race fiercely, shifted out slightly and then had to be eased away from the heels of 13 Who Fancies You which at the same time shifted in slightly when laying in. Leaving the 1000 metres momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of 10 Mystery Dancer which shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider. Leaving the 500 metres had to be checked and was taken wider on the track by 10 Mystery Dancer which shifted out abruptly after being checked away from the heels of 6 River Unicorn, which in turn lost ground whilst being checked away from the heels of 14 Breeze 'N' Luna which was steadied outwards to avoid the heels of 11 Racing Brothers which was yielding ground quickly.
6 River Unicorn (S H Huang) -Leaving the 500 metres had to be checked way from the heels of 14 Breeze 'N' Luna which was steadied outwards to avoid the heels of 11 Racing Brothers which was yielding ground quickly.
7 Yuanno (M Tanaka) -Leaving the 600 metres had to be steadied outwards to avoid the heels of 11 Racing Brothers which was yielding ground quickly.
8 Subtle Mind (K F Choi) -Leaving the 500 metres had to be steadied outwards when awkwardly placed on the heels of 9 Sheng Tong Star which lost ground whilst being checked.
9 Sheng Tong Star (K H Yu) -Leaving the 500 metres had to be checked when tightened for room between 12 Who Loves Sushi and 14 Breeze 'N' Luna which shifted out after being steadied outwards to avoid the heels of 11 Racing Brothers which was yielding ground quickly.
10 Mystery Dancer (Y M Choi) -Near the 1350 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 13 Who Fancies You which shifted in slightly when laying in. Leaving the 500 metres had to be checked and was shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of 6 River Unicorn which lost ground whilst being checked.
11 Racing Brothers (H Lam) -Rider reported his mount traveled well until near the 600 metres when crossed by 1 Pursuing Eagle where his mount then commenced to hang in, made contact with the running rail on a number of occasions and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer W L Ho was informed that he would be required to present 11 Racing Brothers to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 22 May 2022 and in addition as 11 Racing Brothers was beaten in excess of 52 lengths it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
12 Who Loves Sushi (Apprentice Tesuri) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
13 Who Fancies You (Apprentice X C Liang) -Was slow to begin.
14 Breeze 'N' Luna (T Appie) -Was slow to begin. Leaving the 500 metres had to be steadied outwards to avoid the heels of 11 Racing Brothers which was yielding ground quickly.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry”sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to review the patrol film of the home straight. After reviewing the films the Stewards were satisfied that there were insufficient grounds for any objection and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.
