RACE-5 THE LUDHIANA RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (280)

1 Golden Key (K H Yu) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Heat Of The Battle (Apprentice X C Liang) -From the 400 metres until near the 200 metres shifted out under pressure and leaving the 300 metres brushed with 6 River Pentium which at the same time shifted in slightly.
5 Bravo Wind Chaser (Y M Choi) -Was slow to begin.
6 River Pentium (S H Huang) -Shortly after the start brushed with 7 Fortune Fast. For some distance, leaving the 400 metres was taken outwards by 4 Heat Of The Battle which was shifting out under pressure and leaving the 300 metres shifted in slightly and brushed with 4 Heat Of The Battle which at the same time continued to shift out. For a short distance thereafter was again taken outwards by 4 Heat Of The Battle which continued to shift outwards under pressure whilst being ridden along. Apprentice X C Liang the rider of 4 Heat Of The Battle was issued a severe reprimand and he was advised that in similar circumstances, he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount.
7 Fortune Fast (B Yamzon) -Shortly after the start brushed with 6 River Pentium.
10 Captain Tesla (T Appie) -Was slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to review the patrol films of the home straight. At the same time the Stewards considered an objection by Mr. S H Cheong the trainer of 6 River Pentium (S H Huang) being declared 3rd place against 4 Heat Of The Battle (Apprentice X C Liang) being declared 2nd place by the Judge for alleging interference from the 400 metres to the 200 metres. Evidence was taken from Mr. S H Cheong the trainer of 6 River Pentium and Jockey S H Huang, and Mr. G Allendorf the trainer of 4 Heat Of The Battle and Apprentice X C Liang. It was established that for some distance leaving the 400 metres 6 River Pentium was taken outwards by 4 Heat Of The Battle which was shifting out under pressure and leaving the 300 metres shifted in slightly and brushed with 4 Heat Of The Battle which at the same time continued to shift out. For a short distance thereafter 6 River Pentium was again taken outwards by 4 Heat Of The Battle which continued to shift outwards under pressure. After considering all of the evidence, where interference took place, the beaten margin of a neck and how both horses were finishing their races off, the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference not occurred 6 River Pentium would have beaten 4 Heat Of The Battle. They therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.
