Race Report

RACE-2 THE LUCKNOW(DIV-2) RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (44)

1 Lucky Chariot (S Nakano) - Shifted in abruptly on jumping away.
3 Da Fa Loi (Apprentice Tesuri) -Commenced to give ground from the 400 metres. Beaten in excess of 26 lengths. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer W K Lam was informed to present 3 Da Fa Loi to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 6 November 2022.
7 Twin Cam (M Tanaka) -Race three wide throughout.
10 Wealthy Sun (Y M Choi) -Was marginally slow to begin and then had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 1 Lucky Chariot which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Approaching the 1100 metres attempted to improve to the inside of 8 Wing Wo and was as a result steadied for several strides when tightened for room.
12 Grande Fortune (Apprentice A Liu) -Commenced a little awkwardly, then had to be steadied when tightened for room between 7 Twin Cam which shifted in and 9 Beautiful Beach. Approaching the 400 metres had to be steadied after improving close to the heels of 10 Wealthy Sun.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 1100 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 10 Wealthy Sun (Y M Choi) and 8 Wing Wo (C L Cheung). It was established that approaching the 1100 metres 8 Wing Wo had to be restrained from the heels of 2 Courier Specialty (L Corrales) and when being restrained, shifted out slightly before shifting back in. At this stage Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 10 Wealthy Sun attempted to improve to the inside of 8 Wing Wo where there was doubtful room and was as a resulted steadied for several strides. Both Jockeys C L Cheung the rider of 8 Wing Wo and Y M Choi the rider of 10 Wealthy Sun were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Subsequent to the race Trainer W Smith approached the Stewards expressing concerns with the ride of 1 Lucky Chariot (S Nanako). After taking evidence Mr. W Smith the trainer 1 Lucky Chariot and Jockey S Nakano, the inquiry was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed.
