Race Report

RACE-1 THE NEW YORK RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1200 METRES (123)

2 Chase My Dream (W H Lao)- Brushed the side of the barriers on jumping and shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by 4 Wing Wo which was taken out slightly by 3 Da Fa Loi which shifted out slightly. Raced keenly through the middle stages.
3 Da Fa Loi (Apprentice Tesuri)- Was brushed approaching the 100 metres and became unbalanced.
4 Wing Wo (S Nakano)- Shortly after jumping was placed in restricted room between 2 Chase My Dream and 3 Da Fa Loi which shifted out slightly. This resulted in Jockey S Nakano raising his left elbow when attempting to gather his reins. Jockey S Nakano was spoken to advisedly and notified that he must modify his arm action when in similar circumstances.
8 Wealthyness (M Tanaka)- Was reluctant to jump when the gates were released and lost considerable ground. Trainer C W Choi was informed that 8 Wealthyness will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Georgian Ease (S H Huang)- Around the 500 metres stumbled and lost some ground. Raced three wide without cover. Jockey S H Huang the rider of 11 Georgian Ease was questioned as to why he eased his mount down in the straight. He stated that 11 Georgian Ease stumbled rounding the home turn and then felt amiss in its action, and for this reason he eased his mount down in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Wealthy Land (Y M Choi)- Approaching the 100 metres shifted out and bumped 3 Da Fa Loi hampering that gelding. Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 12 Wealthy Land was severely reprimanded and notified that he must exercise far greater control over his mount when shifting ground in future.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored and Stewards viewed the patrol video of the start to establish whether 8 Wealthyness had been afforded a fair start. It was established that when the gates were released 8 Wealthyness was reluctant to jump and lost considerable ground, and as such correct weight was declared.
