RACE-3 THE MAKATI RATING 75-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (175)
Prior to correct weight, Stewards viewed the patrol video to ascertain if there were grounds for an objection on behalf of the connections of 4 Yuanno against 5 Pink Marquise (I Poullis) being declared the second placegetter. Stewards were of the opinion that there were not grounds for a successful objection and correct weight was declared.
1 Sheng Tong Viva (L Corrales) - Commenced awkwardly, faltered slightly.
2 Top Mountain God (W H Lao) - Tailed the field despite the urgings of its rider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Yuanno (M Tanaka) - Tightened for room and checked near the 50 metres (See inquiry report)
5 Pink Marquise (I Poullis) - Passing the 200 metres was bumped outwards by 7 Diamond Rivers and brushed 6 Association Eight. During this incident, had to be steadied inwards to avoid the heels of 4 Yuanno.
6 Association Eight (K H Yu) - Was held up when unable to obtain clear running from the entrance to the straight until near the 150 metres.
7 Diamond Rivers (S H Huang) - After jumping away shifted out abruptly before being corrected by its rider, as a result took 3 Luen On Poseidon and 6 Association Eight wider out of its course. Approaching the 400 metres had to be restrained from the heels of 10 Sincefoon Hero. Was then held up before obtaining clear running near the 300 metres. Beaten favorite. Rider could provide no real explanation for his mount’s performance today.
9 Mystery Dancer (C L Cheung) - Rider stated when questioned that his mount turned its head to the side at the start, resulting in him becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Stewards notified rider C L Cheung that he must be prepared for when the gates are released and Stewards would be monitoring his actions out of the barrier. At the entrance to the straight became unbalanced when brushed by 6 Association Eight, which shifted out to improve its position. Then laid in on top of 6 Association Eight and brushed that gelding.
10 Sincefoon Hero (K F Choi) - Had to be restrained from heels after passing the 800 metres (See inquiry report). Passing the 400m had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between 8 Jayna and 1 Sheng Tong Viva where there were insufficient room.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident after passing the 800 metres. Evidence was taken from riders of 10 Sincefoon Hero (K F Choi) and 8 Jayna (M Alvarez). M Alvarez, rider of 8 Jayna, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i), in that after passing the 800 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of 10 Sincefoon Hero, which had to be restrained. M Alvarez had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of 1 day, with date to be advised, and was fined the sum of HKD 3000. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account of his plea, his riding record, the level of carelessness, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
