Race Report

RACE-1 THE BOMBALA (TURF) (Div.2) RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1800 METRES (203)

1 City Gold Master (C Perkins) - On jumping away, bumped with 4 Numberone Mingxuan, became unbalanced and lost some ground. At the entrance to the straight, became a little unbalanced when brushed by 4 Numberone Mingxuan which was racing tight to its inside.
2 Ocean Warrior (Apprentice X C Liang) - After passing the 500 metres, was held up behind 6 Wing Wo before attempting to shift to the outside of that gelding at the top of the straight to obtain clear running. When doing so, made contact with 5 Lucky Star before then shifting back to the inside to obtain clear run. Unplaced equal favourite. Rider could offer no real excuses other than he was held up slightly rounding the home turn.
5 Lucky Star (Apprentice A Liu) - On jumping away, bumped 7 Bring Me Glory and became a little unbalanced. After entering the straight raced tight between 7 Bring Me Glory and 2 Ocean Warrior which shifted out slightly to obtain clear running. Had some difficulty obtaining a clear run passing the 200 metres.
6 Wing Wo (Apprentice Tesuri) - Led before giving ground around 300 metres. Rider said he was instructed to lead and his mount travelled well throughout the race, however failed to respond when placed under pressure in the straight, and in his opinion did not run out the 1800 metres of today’s event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Apprentice Tesuri was issued a fine of HK$500 under MJC Instructions 35 (4) for his use of the whip on his mount which was out of contention and not responding.
7 Bring Me Glory (M Tanaka) - At the entrance to the straight, was momentarily inconvenienced when placed in restricted room between 4 Numberone Mingxuan and 5 Lucky Star which had shifted out to improve its position. Near the 100 metres, shifted out slightly when struck with the whip, bumped 4 Numberone Mingxuan and became slightly unbalanced.
