Race Report

RACE-6 THE BOCHUM RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1500 METRES (144)

1 Golden Double (C Perkins) – Stewards questioned rider C Perkins into the tactics adopted upon that gelding today. In particular Stewards had concerns with the apparent lack of vigour showing by C Perkins in the back straight and rounding the home turn when his mount was tailing the field. Rider C Perkins explained that he was satisfied to stay wide on the gelding in search of a better going as its previous start when on a heavy track it did not handle the conditions. He added that his mount was on the wrong leg and was unable to maintain closer contact with the field despite his urgings. He highlighted that the top weight at 133lbs was detrimental to his mount’s chances on the heavy track. Rider C Perkins further added that upon straightening his mount switch to its right leg and then let down in the straight and got to the line well. Stewards notified C Perkins that they had concerns with his appearance lack of vigour in the early and middle stages and that he would be expected to make a far greater effort to put his mount under pressure sooner than he did on this occasion and leave no room for query in regards to his ride.
2 Yang Jiang Star (L Salles) – Poor performance. Rider L Salles explained that his mount did not handle today’s heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A swab sample was ordered to be taken from the gelding for analysis.
3 King Creole (A Calder) – Was inconvenienced shortly after the start by 9 Hostwin Almighty (O Doleuze) which shifted out.
6 Luen Yat Forever (W L Ho) – Was slow to begin.
8 Happy Fish (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Performed below market expectation. The rider stated that the gelding did not muster early speed and when put under pressure from the 400 metres did not respond to his riding.
