Stipendiary Stewards Inquiry - Jockey T Appie

Friday, 13th September 2019 – 2nd Race Meeting

RACE-2 THE BEVERLEY RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1510 METRES (8)

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident whereby 12 Military Super was checked near the 600 metres. Evidence was taken from the rider of 6 Greatest Prodigy (T Appie), 8 Fifty Flags (K H Yu) and 12 Military Super (S Nakano). Jockey T Appie the rider of 6 Greatest Prodigy pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 600 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out when insufficiently clear of 12 Military Super which had to be checked. Jockey T Appie’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Sunday, 13 October 2019. The Stewards on arriving at penalty took into account Jockey T Appie’s guilty plea, his riding record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
