Stipendiary Stewards Inquiry - Jockey S Nakano

Sunday, 10th November 2019 – 12th Race Meeting

RACE-5 THE THIRSK RATING 35-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1200 METRES (71)

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 900 metres where 8 River Rich was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 3 Superb Shooter (S Nakano), 8 River Rich (Apprentice C L Cheung) and 6 Game Of Dreams (J B Hamel). Jockey S Nakano the rider of 3 Superb Shooter pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 1000 metres he had 6 Game Of Dreams and 8 River Rich unnecessarily racing tight to his inside until leaving the 900 metres where 6 Game Of Dreams was taken in onto 8 River Rich which had to be checked. Jockey S Nakano’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday, 30th November 2019. In arriving at the decision, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record and the degree of interference and both the racing manners of 6 Game Of Dreams and 8 River Rich at the point of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
