FAIRVIEW (Polytrack)

A right handed all-weather polytrack with a circumference of about 1800m. All races have at least one bend, with races from 1400 to 1800m starting on the bend. The near bend, leading into the home straight, has a slight camber to assist horses racing around it.

Race Summary: Hard race to assess as more than half of these have prior engagements and aren't sure to take their place in this. Of those, GINA'S GIRL makes most appeal on exposed form and will be hard to beat if lining up against these. ROYAL SPLURGE has recently relocated to these parts from KZN and could improve to feature. ALEGRA was fancied on debut and must also be respected.

Race Summary: The Kaknis yard dominates this modest contest with 4 of the 7 runners. RUSALKA and stable companion SCOLDING have run their best races over this trip and on that evidence must be included. POLLYMANIA produced her best effort over track and trip so is another to consider. TIME FOR LAUNCH showed pace last time and could get away. None of these going to Hollywood!

Race Summary: MARK THE DOORMAN has been threatening to leave the maiden ranks and need only overcome his wide draw to belatedly shed his maiden tag. WHAT A PRINCE also has a wide starting berth to negotiate and is closely matched with that rival, so could have a say in the outcome. FORBIDDEN AFFAIR is drawn in pole and will be competitive reverting to this surface. CIDER is worth a mention.

Race Summary: Open. FIERY FORT has come well in these parts since moving from Cape Town. He trotted up last time and KING CAPONE has franked that form by winning since. Consistent GIACOMO could improve trying this trip so must be included in bets. NINJINSKY'S SON has gone close in his last two starts and is another to consider. THE GOON SHOW, AWAKENING and OMAHA TRIBE could also feature.

Race Summary: Good race. WYLIE'S FLAME is unbeaten over the track and trip. She is 1kg worse off with course-and-distance specialist CLOSE TO MY HEART for 1,25 lengths but is progressive and should confirm if making further improvement. The latter beat ROCK STARDOM, ELUSIVE FOUNTAIN, HOPEFUL and NEVERTHELESS last time out and can confirm despite the weight turnaround with those rivals.

Race Summary: A race the fillies could dominate. Course-and-distance specialist SEATTLE MERMAID has won her last two starts, both over this track and trip, including a similar contest in her most recent outing. FURLA chased her home on that occasion and is likely to pose a threat once more. YODALICIOUS has also been beaten by the selection recently but is weighted to turn the tables.

Race Summary: Course-and-distance BELIEVETHISBEAUTY bit off more than she can chew in a far stronger race last time but deserved a shot at that level given her prior form. She's prolific over this track and trip, proven in this grade and drawn well in gate No 3, so there's a lot to like about her chances. SAIL SMARTLY won well on local debut and with improvement should pose a threat.

Race Summary: Open. CALANDRA took time to win her maiden but is maturing and is likely to be competitive on handicap debut. Stable companion LADYSMITH is closely matched with NEVERLETUGO, both are capable but have wide draws to negotiate. MICROBE bounced back to form last time and could feature if confirming. VIVA LE BLEU is holding form and should go close from an inside gate. Watch MALINDA.
