Stewards Inquiry Result – Jockey S Nakano

RACE-2 THE CHONGQING RATING 55-25 (CLASS 4) 1800 METRES (314)

The Stewards continued their inquiry into the running and handling of 4 Chinese Hero (S Nakano) in the home straight (on 20 July 2021). Evidence was taken from C W Choi, the Trainer of 4 Chinese Hero, and Jockey S Nakano.

After considering all of the evidence Jockey S Nakano was found guilty of a charge under MJC Rule 132 (iii) in that he failed to ride 4 Chinese Hero to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge were that for approximately five (5) strides near the 160 metres, he failed to shift 4 Chinese Hero to the outside of 2 The Macallan to secure clear running between 2 The Macallan and 5 Fortune Lady when there was an opportunity to do so.

Jockey S Nakano’s license to ride in races was suspended for six (6) race meetings, covering the meetings of 31 July, 6, 8, 15, 20 and 22 August 2021. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his not guilty plea, his disciplinary record, the serious nature of the charge and all mitigating factors.He was advised of his rights of appeal.
