RACE-3 THE RIPON RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1200 METRES (69)

1 Mister Kaopu (L Corrales) -Leaving the 800 metres raced fiercely for some distance when racing close to the heels of 2 Sheng Li Superstar. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 River Bobo (J B Hamel) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Bring Me Speed (D Barros) -Was held up rounding the home turn.
5 Royal Garden (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Was then unable to establish clear running until leaving the 50 metres and went to the line without being fully tested.
6 Fortune Treasure (S Nakano) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages.
7 Lover Paradise (K H Yu) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and near the 800 metres raced fiercely on the heels of 9 To's Family and threw its head up.
10 Eclair Sunshine (Y M Choi) -Was slow to begin. Leaving the 1000 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 4 Bring Me Speed which shifted in slightly. Jockey D Barros was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
11 Mission Gdragon (O Chavez) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
12 Maryknoll Winner (S Ladjadj) -Bumped by 13 The Moon's Back on jumping away. Thereafter raced wide without cover, raced ungenerously and hung out for the majority of the event. In lieu of its racing manners Trainer K S Wong was informed that 12 Maryknoll Winner will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 50 metres where 9 To's Family was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 9 To's Family (H Lam), 5 Royal Garden (Apprentice C L Cheung) and 4 Bring Me Speed (D Barros). Jockey D Barros pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 50 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 5 Royal Garden which was taken in onto 9 To's Family which had to be checked. Jockey D Barros’ license to ride in races was suspended for 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of Friday, 10 January and Sunday, 12 January 2020.
In arriving at the decision, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record and in particular this is his first meeting back from a previous suspension and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
