RACE-4 THE RECIFE RATING 70-40 (CLASS 2&3) 1800 METRES (166)

1 Krystrump (L Corrales) -Was resaddled behind the barriers. Passing the winning post on the first occasion was checked. Thereafter raced fiercely for some distance and making the crossing near the 1350 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 7 Star Of Phoenix. Raced wide without cover from the 500 metres and in the home straight was inclined to lay out under pressure.
2 Tuhao Choice (C L Cheung) -Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. When making the crossing at the 1350 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Star Of City Gold.
3 Knows It All (K H Yu) -Was buffeted on jumping away between 6 Hostwin Sunlight and 8 Qian Gua, both of which shifted ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer W Smith was informed that will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is provided.
4 Star Of City Gold (M Tanaka) -Making the crossing near the 1350 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 8 Qian Gua.
5 Big Alloy (T Appie) -Near the 1650 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 1 Krystrump which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey L Corrales the rider of 1 Krystrump was issued with a severe reprimand and was advised that in similar circumstances, he would be expected to be sufficiently clear when shifting ground.
6 Hostwin Sunlight (W L Ho) -On the way to the barriers, broke loose and was captured. Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to race. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that a warning had been placed on 6 Hostwin Sunlight in relation to its pre race manners.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident passing the winning post on the first occasion where 1 Krystrump had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Krystrump (L Corrales) and 7 Star Of Phoenix (S Ladjadj). Jockey S Ladjadj the rider of 7 Star Of Phoenix pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that passing the winning post on the first occasion, he permitted 7 Star Of Phoenix to shift in when insufficiently clear of 1 Krystrump which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey S Ladjadj’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday 24 April 2021. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey S Ladjadj’s guilty plea, his disciplinary record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
