RACE-5 THE DAVAO (SAND) RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (172)

1 Harapan (Apprentice A Liu) - Approaching the 900 metres was checked (see inquiry). Had a tendency to lay in inside the 200 metres. Beaten Favourite. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
6 Racing Brothers (L Corrales) - Knuckled on jumping, then shifted in and inconvenienced 3 Fortune Ahead.
7 Pearl Big Brother (C Perkins) - Brushed the side of the barrier stall when the gates were released and then contacted 8 Happy Happy Happy.
9 Racing Master (Y M Choi) - Shifted out slightly on jumping and brushed 2 Fortune Paradise. Rider Y M Choi was questioned as to why he heavily restrained his mount resulting in it losing significant ground in the back straight. He said that he had been instructed to lead if possible but not to get into a speed battle and for this reason he elected to steady with a view to obtaining a position behind the leader 4 Sheng Tong Baby. He said that it was 9 Racing Master’s first start over the 1350 metres, and he did not wish to go too hard in case the gelding failed to see out the distance of the race. He added that when he was restraining, his mount then commenced to race ungenerously for some distance and that after entering the straight, shifted in of its own accord and bumped the running rail and became unbalanced.
