	Introduction :	In 1978 Alex Y Y Choy began his career in racing as a HK apprentice. After completing his apprenticeship Choy was then licensed as a freelance jockey for the Seasons of 1982/83 and 1983/84. He later rode in North America before transferring to Macau in 1990. Choy continued to ride in Macau until he was granted an assistant trainer\'s license in October 1993. In January 1996 when Irish trainer F Mills who was based in Macau, relinquished her trainer’s license, Choy was then granted an acting trainer’s license. Shortly after Choy received a full trainer’s license for the 1996/97 racing season.
