Stipendiary Stewards Inquiry - Jockey S Nakano

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 950 metres whereby 8 Cheerful Fish had to be checked. Evidence was taken from riders of 2 Sweet Bumhan (F Henrique), 6 Luen On Prosperity (S Nakano) and 8 Cheerful Fish (W H Lao). Jockey S Nakano the rider of 6 Luen On Prosperity pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 950 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent 6 Luen On Prosperity from shifting in when insufficiently clear of 2 Sweet Bumhan which was steadied and in turn taken in onto 8 Cheerful Fish which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey S Nakano’s license to ride in races was suspended for two racemeetings covering the meetings of 15th and 16th May 2020 and he was issued a momentary fine of HKD9000 in lieu of an additional race meeting. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Nakano’s guilty plea, his poor riding record, the degree of the interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
