The Handling and Arrangement of Horses after 31st March 2024:
|
It is announced that all horse racing related operation will cease to operate from 1st April 2024. Below is the handling and arrangement for the horses.
|
|
1) Full Retirement:
|
|
Owners who wish to retire their horses completely can choose to relinquish ownership to the Club. In this case, no further livery charges will be incurred by the owners.
|
|
2) Export Retirement:
|
|
Owners who want to export their horses to other jurisdictions can do so by arranging for their transportation. A monthly livery charge of HKD 8,000 will apply until the horses depart from Macau. The charge will cease once the horse leaves Macau.
|
|
Exportation Options & Plan
|
|
Owners have the option to export their horses to various countries.
The available countries for export include:
|
|
a) Mainland China (Zhuhai or Beijing Quarantine): 14 days quarantine in Macau and 30 days quarantine in China.
|
|
b) Malaysia (KL): Pre-testing before Macau export and 14-30 days quarantine in Malaysia.
|
|
c) United States: Pre-testing before Macau export and 7 days quarantine in the USA.
|
|
d) European Union: Pre-testing before Macau export and quarantine duration to be confirmed.
|
|
e) Countries Pending Review & New Protocol: The Club will review the possibility of exporting horses to other countries, and new protocols will be established accordingly.
|
|
3) Horse Welfare Management from 31st March 2024:
|
|
a) The horses will be divided into six stables, with owners' horses placed in a separate barn.
|
|
b) The Racing Department and Veterinary Department will assume custody of all horses, initially assisted by trainers.
|
|
4) Veterinary and Farrier Support:
|
|
A full veterinary team and a portion of the farrier team will remain in place until the end to provide necessary medical care and farrier services to the horses.
|
|
5) Stable Workforce:
|
|
A portion of the stable workforce will be retained to ensure the care and well-being of the horses.
|
|
6) Training Facilities:
|
|
Training facilities such as the Equine Pool, Walking Machine, and 30x Spelling Yards will be available for the horses' exercise and conditioning.
|
