Race Report

RACE-1 THE LEIPZIG RATING 55-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1200 METRES (172)

2 Poker King (L Corrales) -At the 800 metres shifted in.
4 Moon Walker (H Lam) -At the 250 metres was disappointed for a run and had to switch over the heels of 7 Meaning Strong.
5 Oriental Reign (W Smith) -Had to be checked at the 800 metres when 2 Poker King shifted in.
6 Fresh Spirit (J Pescuiso) -Commenced to hung out from the 700 metres to the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer M C Tam was informed that 6 Fresh Spirit will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident at the 800 metres where 2 Poker King (L Corrales) shifted in when not clear resulting in 5 Oriental Reign (W Smith) having to check. Jockey L Corrales was found guilty of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that at the 800 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 5 Oriental Reign which had to be checked. Jockey L Corrales was fined the sum of HK$9,000 in lieu of a one day racemeeting suspension. In arriving at the penalty the Stewards took into account his record, his guilty plea and the degree of the interference. He was informed of his Right of Appeal.
