Race Report

RACE-2 THE AYR RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (38)

1 Gem Glory (L Corrales) -Raced wide without cover and was inclined to lay out throughout. Rider reported he had been pleased with the work of 1 Gem Glory leading up to tonight’s race. He stated that he expected to be racing in a handy position, however uncharacteristically 1 Gem Glory failed to show its customary early speed and settled further back than he had anticipated. He added when racing wide without cover down the back straight, he attempted to obtain a position with cover, however as runners were positioned to his inside he was unable to do so and was forced to race wide without cover throughout. He stated that from the 500 metres his mount was under pressure to hold its position and when placed under pressure in the home straight, 1 Gem Glory did not respond to his riding and in his opinion was disappointing and was not suited by tonight’s good to yielding track and performs better on tracks rated good or better. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K S Wong was informed that he would be required to present 1 Gem Glory to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 31 October 2020.
2 Gorgeous Bomb (J B Hamel) -Leaving the 800 metres had a tendency to hang out for a short distance.
3 Hostwin Shadow (K H Yu) - Leaving the 500 metres raced up onto the heels of 4 You Are The Best and had to be steadied. In the early stages of the home straight had some difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 50 metres had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of 7 Lucky Gold which shifted out when under pressure. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Loxwood (W H Lao) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages. Leaving the 300 metres laid in and became awkward on the heels of 7 Lucky Gold and a short distance later had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between 7 Lucky Gold and 6 Gon Sai Baau, both of which shifted ground. Was then obliged to shift out around the heels of 6 Gon Sai Baau to obtain clear running.
6 Gon Sai Baau (F Henrique) -Was slow to begin. Raced fiercely in the middle stages and approaching the 500 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 5 Loxwood which shifted in slightly.
