Race Report

RACE-1 THE ILOILO (TURF) (Div.2) RATING 50-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (168)

1 Courier Specialty (C Perkins) - Was held up for some distance rounding the home turn.
2 Lucky Chariot (K H Yu) - Severely checked passing the 1200 metres (see inquiry report). Approaching and passing the 400 metres was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
5 Show Down (S H Huang) - After jumping away was tightened for room between 2 Lucky Chariot and 1 Courier Specialty and then had to be steadied from the heels of 1 Courier Specialty. After passing the 700 metres was bumped by 1 Courier Specialty and shifted to a three wide position.
6 Spicy Again (I Poullis) - Commenced awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover.
7 Winnie Star (L Corrales) - Approaching the 300 metres was momentarily held up behind 1 Courier Specialty before obtaining clear running. Performed below market expectations. Rider stated that his mount was not suited by the slow tempo in today’s race and it made an unusual respiratory noise. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident passing the 1200 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Lucky Chariot (K H Yu), 1 Courier Specialty (C Perkins) and 3 Lucky To Win (W H Lao). It was established that 2 Lucky Chariot had to be severely checked when racing tight to the inside of 1 Courier Specialty which in turn was racing tight to the inside of 3 Lucky To Win. After considering all of the circumstances, Stewards did not believe that any rider was responsible for the incident. Nevertheless they reminded all riders to exercise the utmost care at all times.
