Race Report

RACE-3 THE BUNDARRA RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (260)

2 Yulong Command (L Corrales) - Eased down in the straight. Rider stated that his mount was not suited by today’s heavy track conditions. Unplaced favorite. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Cumberbatch (K F Choi) - Approaching the 200 metres, was taken wider by 4 Sacred Magnate (W H Lao) which when improving was initially taken out by 1 Fifer (Apprentice A Liu) before shifting out further, before changing course to the inside of those runners. W H Lao and Apprentice A Liu were spoken to advisedly.
6 Famous Talent (C Perkins) - After passing the 800 metres, shifted out and away from 8 Diamond Rivers and inconvenienced 5 Cumberbatch. Passing the 600 metres, was taken a little wider by 8 Diamond Rivers. (See inquiry report)
7 Famous Jonathn (I Poullis) - Returned to scale having lost its right front plate.
8 Diamond Rivers (S Nakano) - After jumping away, was momentarily crowded between 6 Famous Talent and 3 Electroplate Alloy which shifted out slightly.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
On return to scale, C Perkins, rider of second place-getter 6 Famous Talent, and W K Lam, trainer of the gelding, lodged an objection against the winner 8 Diamond Rivers on the grounds of an alleged interference passing the 600 metres. It was established that passing the 600 metres 6 Famous Talent was taken wider by 8 Diamond Rivers which had shifted out to improve. As Stewards were of the view that this incident did not affect the result of the race, therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the judges’ placings.
