Race Report

RACE-4 THE RANDWICK (DIVISION-2) RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (271)

1 Aeras (M Tanaka) - Raced very keenly in the back straight. Hung out under pressure in the home straight.
2 Mystery Dancer (S Nakano) - Tightened for room and checked passing the 1200 metres. (See inquiry report)
4 Beauty Life (L Corrales) - Raced keenly in the back straight.
6 Brother Lian'An (K H Yu) - After jumping away, was hampered when tightened for room between 1 Aeras, which shifted in slightly, and 2 Mystery Dancer which initially shifted in before being bumped in further by 5 Set My Heart. Had to be steadied when close to heels for some distance passing the 500 metres.
7 Good World (Apprentice A Liu) - Commenced awkwardly, unbalancing its rider. Performed below market expectations. Rider stated that his mount raced greenly today at its second start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident passing the 1200 metres. S Nakano, rider of 2 Mystery Dancer, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in which he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting to the inside of 5 Set My Heart, resulting in 6 Brother Lian'An being tightened for room, losing its rightful running and having to be checked. S Nakano had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race days covering the meetings of Saturday, 8 July and Friday, 14 July 2023 and fined the sum of HKD 10,000. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, the guilty plea, and his careless riding record. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
