3 City Gold Planet (L Corrales) - Was marginally slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
4 Everlasting Goal (W H Lao) - When the pace steadied in the middle stage, commenced to over race and had to be steadied from heels. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Day Day Supreme (M Tanaka) - Had to be steadied shortly after the start. (See inquiry report)
6 Star Of City Gold (Apprentice Tesuri) - Shortly after that start was hampered, became very balanced and had its hind quarters turned. (See inquiry report)
7 Bewarethewag (K F Choi) - Had to be checked shortly after the start (See inquiry report)
8 Baby Shark (K H Yu) - Had to be checked after passing the winning post on the first occasion. Approaching the 1500 metres had to be checked when awkwardly placed close to heels of 11 Yiu Cheung Victory (See inquiry report)
9 Yatholing (S Nakano) - Shortly after the start was hampered and tightened for room between 6 Star Of City Gold and 10 Ronson (See inquiry report).
10 Ronson (S H Huang) - Was taken outwards shortly after the start. (See inquiry report)
11 Yiu Cheung Victory (C L Cheung) - Was taken outwards shortly after the start. (See inquiry report) Near the 100 metres, was brushed by 1 Chili Refreshing which shifted out slightly.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident shortly after the start. Apprentice A Liu, rider of 1 Chili Refreshing, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that shortly after the start he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out, resulting in 7 Bewarethewag being checked. Apprentice A Liu had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race days, with date to be advised, and fined the sum of HKD 4,000. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, the guilty plea, Apprentice A Liu’s riding record and other mitigating factors. He was advised of his rights of appeal. As a consequence, when being checked, 7 Bewarethewag shifted out resulting in 5 Day Day Supreme having to be steadied, 11 Yiu Cheung Victory, 10 Ronson being taken outwards, and 9 Yatholing and 6 Star Of City Gold being hampered and becoming very unbalanced.

C L Cheung, rider of 11 Yiu Cheung Victory, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that he permitted his mount to shift in when not fully clear of 8 Baby Shark which had to be restrained to avoid heels of 11 Yiu Cheung Victory and when being restrained shifted out resulting in 7 Bewarethewag and 10 Ronson being taken wider and hampered when tightened for room between 8 Baby Shark and 6 Star Of City Gold. C L Cheung had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 race day, with date to be advised, and fined the sum of HKD 5,000. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, the guilty plea, C L Chueng’s riding record and other mitigating factors. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
