Race Report

RACE-2 4YO Prelude (GROUP 3) RATING 4YO () 1500 METRES (140)

4 Harbour Star (Apprentice Y M Choi) – Raced three wide without cover.
5 One Belt One Road (W H Lao) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that he was taken out wide down the back straight. His mount traveled well from the 600 metres, however did not respond to his riding in the straight.
6 Kelowna Star (O Doleuze) – Jockey O Doleuze rider of 6 Kelowna Star was severely reprimanded for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
7 So Sweet (K K Lai) – After jumping away had to be checked when tightened for room between 10 Not A Single Help (A Calder) which shifted out and 4 Harbour Star (Apprentice Y M Choi) which shifted in after being bumped by 1 Sandtop (W L Ho), which shifted in abruptly on jumping away.
10 Not A Single Help (A Calder) – Rounding the turn near the 1200 metres had to be steadied when placed in restricted room for a short distance.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey O Doleuze the rider of 6 Kelowna Star pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132(i) in that after passing the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 2 Bobo So Cute (L Salles) resulting in that gelding being taken out off its course, having to be restrained to avoid the heel of 6 Kelowna Star and losing ground. Jockey O Doleuze had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of two race meetings being the 19th and 20th February 2016. In arriving at the penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, that he had just resumed riding after significant time off through injury, the severity of the interference and the degree of carelessness. He was advised his Right of Appeal.
