Race Report

RACE-5 MACAU GOLDEN GROUP CHARITY TROPHY RATING 70+ (CLASS 1) 1700 METRES (192)

This race was rescheduled to start at 4:30pm.

1 Pak Lok Angel (O Doleuze) –From after passing the 500 metres until near the 350 metres was held up when able to improve its position
2 Gold Alloy (H Lam) –Jumped away awkwardly and struck the inside gate and was then placed in restricted room between 10 Happy Fish and 7 Luen Yat Forever, both of which shifted ground.
4 Golden Double (C Perkins) – Trainer Y C Fung advised Stewards that he would be instructing his rider to attempt to settle his mount mid field today. Jumped away awkwardly and then restrained and crossed down to the rails before settling towards the rear of the field.
5 Happy Prodigal Son (L Salles) –Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the back straight
7 Luen Yat Forever (W L Ho) – Disappointing. Rider reported that the gelding is one paced and would prefer heavier track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Yang Jiang Star (W H Lao) – The Stewards questioned rider W H Lao regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding today. He advised his instructions were to settle in a forward position if possible. He stated that he lost his right iron on jumping away before regaining the use of it shortly after the start. For this reason he was further back than expected. However in the back straight he shifted wider on the track and allowed his mount to stride forward as it was traveling well on the bit. He highlighted the fact that the trainer had advised him that 8 Yang Jiang Star does not travel well when racing amongst runners and he was satisfied to be travelling off the fence. Jockey W H Lao added that near the 800 metres 6 Unbreakable shifted out which prevented him being able to obtain a position closer to the rail. He thought his mount was travelling well enough to win at the 400 metres however it was a beaten horse when placed under pressure at the 300 metres and was disappointing in the way it finished off the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality and a swab sample was taken for analysis.
9 King Creole (A Calder) –Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
