Race Report

RACE-2 THE HANGZHOU RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (219)

The start of this race was reschedule to 2:40pm.

3 Tiger Exceed (H Lam) –Raced three wide without cover.
5 Four Season Health (W T Pao) –Jumped away awkwardly.
6 Gem Fighter (L Corrales) – Over raced badly in middle stages
8 River Dream (D Chong) –Jumped away awkwardly and was then inconvenienced by 10 Pawmaster which shifted in and as a result lost ground. Approaching winning post on the first occasion had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 10 Pawmaster which shifted. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a through veterinary examination on Sunday, 10th April 2016.
9 St Pedder (A Calder) –Raced four wide without cover.
12 Safe Gold Baby (C Perkins) –Was marginally slow to begin and then became unbalanced after being brushed by 3 Tiger Exceed which shifted in after jumping away. Raced very keenly through the early stages.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey D Chong the rider of 8 River Dream pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (iii) for failing to ride his mount to the satisfaction of the Stewards, and the particulars being:-
i) that in inside the 250 metres, he steadied his mount for approximately four strides when in the opinion of the Stewards there was at all times sufficient room to improve into a run between 12 Beautiful Illusion (Y M Choi) and 1 Court Achiever (A Aucharuz);
ii) after passing the 200 metres, he steadied his mount for approximately eight strides when it was reasonable in the opinion of the Stewards to pursue a run between 12 Beautiful Illusion and 1 Court Achiever.
In laying the charge the Stewards acknowledged that in regards to particular i) there had been a slight shift inwards from 12 Beautiful Illusion and then a slight shift outwards from 1 Court Achiever, and in regards to particular ii) there may have been a slight shift outwards from 1 Court Achiever. Jockey D Chong’s licence to ride was suspended for a period of six racemeetings. The suspension to commence after the racemeeting on Sunday, 17th April 2016 and expire at midnight on Saturday, 21st May 2016. He was advised of his Right of Appeal. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account all mitigating circumstances, Jockey Chong’s guilty plea and his good record.
