Race Report

RACE-1 THE PALERMO RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (267)

1 Hongkong Winepro (C Perkins) – Raced very keenly through the early and middle stages. Disappointing performance. Rider C Perkins reported that his mount traveled well until the home turn however failed to respond to his riding thereafter. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Vancouver Jaguar (W Smith) – Was marginally slow to begin. Rider W Smith reported that his mount never traveled comfortably at any stage of the race and in his opinion was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Crowning Mission (R Curatolo) – Performed below market expectation. When questioned as to why he allowed its stable mate 4 Vancouver Jaguar to improve to his inside near the 1300 metres, rider R Curatolo explained that although it was his intention to race off the fence, as in his opinion the track was heavier to the inside, he did not realize that he allowed his mount to shift out as far as it did rounding the first turn which allowed the stable mate 4 Vancouver Jaguar a run to his inside. R Curatolo added that after passing the 400 metres he was obliged to shift wider on track when awkwardly placed to the outside of the heels of 1 Hongkong Winepro which shifted out slightly. R Curatolo further added that his mount finished the race off well and his whip broke in half in the home straight.
6 Son Of Unicorn (L Corrales) – Shifted out when the gates were released and as a result lost ground. Raced three wide without cover before obtaining a position closer to the rail near the 600 metres.
7 Laughing World (B Yamzon) – When questioned regarding his actions on entering the home straight rider B Yamzon explained that he was attempting to change his mount’s lead leg in the hope it would finish its race off.
