Race Report

RACE-1 THE DAVAO RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1350 METRES (332)

1 River God Choi (K W Leong)- After passing the 900 metres raced tight with 2 Florence Baby for several strides and then made heavy contact with that gelding when being steadied outwards to avoid the heels of 3 Gem Lucky Star.
2 Florence Baby (W L Ho) –Approaching the 800 metres became unbalanced when racing tight with 1 River God Choi.
3 Gem Lucky Star (L Salles) –Over raced through the early stages. Approaching the 800 metres had to be shifted outwards to avoid the heels of 5 Tiger Exceed which was being steadied. Performed below expectations. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the left foreleg. A swab was taken from the gelding for analysis. Trainer K S Wong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produced.
7 Win Perfectly (L Corrales) –Raced three wide without cover before obtaining a position outside of the leader after passing the 800 metres.
8 St Pedder (B Yamzon) –Struck the inside gate on jumping away. Rider reported that his mount resented the kick back and in his opinion was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Modena Creation ( A Aucharuz) –Was slow into stride.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey A Calder the rider of 6 Brilliant Cash pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that at the 1100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of 4 Easy Victory (K H Yu) which was taken in, tightening the running of 8 St Pedder which had to be checked. Jockey A Calder’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 30th and 31st July 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his good record, the degree of carelessness and the severity of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
