Race Report

RACE-2 THE LEO RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (357)

1 Arabian Hawk (J Cordero) –Was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start. Prior to “Correct Weight”, the Stewards viewed the patrol video of the start. It was established when the gates were released 1 Arabian Hawk stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. “Correct Weight” was declared. Trainer K C Tse was notified that the gelding will be required to perform in a Jump Out prior to racing again.
3 Dr Definitely (B Yamzon) –Was marginally slow to begin. Commenced to over race near the 1200 metres. Laid in rounding the home turn and in the straight.
5 Hopefully Tomorrow (W H Lao) –Over raced in the back straight.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey W L Ho the rider of 4 Northern Lightning pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently of 8 Vigorous Momentum (W Smith) which had to be checked. Jockey W L ho had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 13th and 14th August 2016. In laying the charge, the Stewards acknowledged 8 Vigorous Momentum had improved quickly to the inside of 4 Northern Lightning prior to the incident. Furthermore, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his record, the severity of the interference and the degree of carelessness. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
