Race Report

RACE-1 THE TAGGU (SAND) MAIDEN 1350 METRES (362)

1 Nickel Alloy (H Lam) - Raced four wide without cover before obtaining a position near the 600 metres.
2 Highspot (A Calder) – Jumped away awkwardly. Rounding the turn approaching the 1000 metres was steadied when tightened for room between 3 Full Of Luck and 4 Chan Mei Fortune. Jockey A Calder was unable to offer any real excuses for the disappointing performance today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Full Of Luck (W H Lao) – Bounded in the air when the gates were released and lost ground. At the 700 metres was hampered and had to be checked off the heels of 4 Chan Mei Fortune which lost ground quickly after sustaining an injury.
4 Chan Mei Fortune (R Curatolo) –Went amiss near the 700 metres and was retired from the event. The gelding which was severely lame in the left foreleg was treated on course before being transported by the horse ambulance to the Veterinary Hospital for further treatment. Trainer K Seo was informed that before permitted to race again a veterinary clearance must be produced and that 4 Chan Mei Fortune will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
5 River Sandtop (K H Yu) – Jumped away awkwardly and became unbalanced.
6 Super Amazing Hero (A Aucharuz) – Raced three wide without cover before obtaining a position closer to the rail near the 600 metres.
7 Rio Party (W Smith) – Jumped away awkwardly, struck the inside gate and lost ground. Shortly after the start was taken inwards by 2 Highspot and was then restrained to avoid that gelding’s heels. Jockey A Calder the rider of 2 Highspot was advised to exercise more care when in similar circumstances in future.
8 Alway Better (L Corrales) – Was examined behind the barriers at the request of the rider and passed fit to race. Raced very wide without cover throughout the event.
