Race Report

RACE-3 THE DAFFODIL RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (9)

1 Nata Way (A Calder) –Near the 1000 metres raced in restricted room for a short distance and was buffeted between 5 Shame On You and 3 Nickel Alloy which was inclined to lay in.
2 Cali Fortune (W H Lao) –Trainer K S Ho informed Stewards that he would be instructing the rider from the wide draw to get a good jump and endeavor to obtain a position with cover mid field in an attempt to allow 2 Cali Fortune to finish the race off. Rider reported to the Stewards that due to the speed to his inside he restrained his mount shortly after the start in an attempt to obtain cover in accordance with his instructions. As a result of this he settled further back than anticipated. He further added his mount hung out for the majority of the event and failed to run on in the straight and in his opinion the gelding was not comfortable in the kickback.
4 Crowning Mission (B Yamzon) –Raced wide rounding the home turn.
7 Gold And Silver (M Cangas) –Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Leaving the 200 metres laid in under pressure.
8 Diamond Rocket (Y M Choi) –Bumped shortly after the start by 7 Gold And Silver which shifted in.
9 Go Go Fish (W L Ho) – Shortly after the start was tightened for room between 11 River Best Diamond and 1 Nata Way which shifted out slightly. Poor performance. Rider reported that his mount never travelled comfortably and raced greenly throughout and was very disappointing.
A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that 9 Go Go Fish will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Gold Selection (C F Chan) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that his mount only travelled fairly throughout, however in the home straight failed to respond to his urgings and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainers C F Chan and K Seo were informed to present 10 Gold Selection at the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 1 October 2016.
11 River Best Diamond (K W Leong) –Raced greenly in the early stages. Near the 600 metres continued to race greenly and had to be steadied by its rider. Near the 100 metres was steadied and shifted out abruptly when awkwardly placed on the heels of 10 Gold Selection which was tiring.
