Race Report

RACE-1 THE WASHINGTON RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1500 METRES (165)

2 Golden Commandment (A Aucharuz) –Was slow into stride.
6 Impeccable Genius (C Perkins) –Proved difficult to load. Trainers W H Tse/K C Wong were informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial. Was slow to begin and was then bumped by 7 Gold On.
8 Great River (K H Yu) –Near the 800 metres was eased when momentarily racing in restricted room between 5 Power Savabeel and 4 Four Season Health, both of which shifted ground slightly. Near the 700 metres over raced up onto the heels of 4 Four Season Health and had to be steadied. Rider reported his mount did not appreciate today’s track conditions.
10 Windsor Arch (C F Chan) –Dislodged rider on the way to the barriers, was recaptured, inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Jockey C F Chan was also examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and declared fit to ride. Was resaddled behind the barriers. Jumped awkwardly. The Stewards questioned Jockey C F Chan regarding his vigour, in particular from entering the home straight and until near the 100 metres. Jockey C F Chan stated that at the top of the home straight, he elected to shift to the outside to obtain clear running, however his mount had a tendency to hang in and continued to hang in until near the 100 metres where he was then able to use the whip. He added once able to use the whip 10 Windsor Arch did not respond as expected and failed to run on. The Stewards noted his explanation, however he was advised of his obligations to ride all his mounts in a manner as to leave no room for query.
