Race Report

RACE-4 THE RECIFE RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (174)

1 Your Friend (A Calder) –Was slow to begin. Entering the home straight, shifted in abruptly of its own accord. Rider reported that his mount never travelled and was under constant pressure throughout. He added that in the home straight his mount became unbalanced on a number of occasion and never responded to his riding. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Eangle Commander (R Maia) –Jumped awkwardly and hung in for a short distance after the start. Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider reported due to his mount being forced to race wide without cover, in his opinion this had contributed to the gelding tiring in the home straight.
6 Gauteng (B Yamzon) –Near the 350 metres was checked off the heels of 12 River Pearl which was yielding ground.
7 Gem Fighter (K K Lai) – Jockey K K Lai was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out fully to the finish line.
8 Great Party (C Perkins) –Near the 500 metres was steadied off the heels of 12 River Pearl which when weakening yielded ground
9 Luen Yat Command (M Wepner) –
10 Luen On Very Well (M Cangas) –
11 River God Choi (K H Yu) –Tightened for room shortly after the start between 12 River Pearl which shifted out and 8 Great Party which was taken in by 5 Eangle Commander which hung in.
12 River Pearl (K W Leong) –Was inclined to hang out throughout. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. Rider reported his mount had a tendency to hang out throughout and never travelled freely. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer S H Cheong was informed to present the filly to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 4th March 2017.
