Race Report

RACE-1 THE RED RUM RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (268)

2 Kelson (O Chavez) -At the 1250 metres was bumped by 6 St Trump. At the 400 metres was taken wider on the track by 3 Schilleraine. Performed below market expectations. Jockey O Chavez when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of 2 Kelson said that his mount had trouble holding its position from the 400 metres and continually lost ground until the 200 metres, at which stage he became concerned that it could have bled and eased it down. Trainer M C Tam when questioned said 2 Kelson won two weeks ago on a similar track and led all the way. Today the gelding was unable to lead and was caught three wide. He was unable to offer any tangible explanation. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer M C Tam was informed that he would be required to present 2 Kelson to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination including an endoscopic on Sunday, 22 July 2018.
3 Schilleraine (M Wepner) -At the 400 metres shifted out to obtain a run to the outside of 5 River Colour and in doing so took 2 Kelson wider.
4 Moon Walker (H Lam) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 St Trump (W Smith) -Blundered on a number of occasions throughout the race. At the 1250 metres rolled out bumping 2 Kelson and as a result became unbalanced and lost ground. Performed below market expectations. Jockey W Smith when questioned said that his mount was only having its 3rd race start today, was unbalanced in the going on a number of occasions and did not appear to handle today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
