Race Report

RACE-1 THE WARWICK FARM RATING 45-15 (CLASS 4&5) 1050 METRES (73)

1 Best Jade Wan Zai (R Maia) -Jumped awkwardly and shifted out shortly after the start. Raced greenly throughout. Rider reported that his mount raced greenly for the majority of the race and he always had to ride his mount along to maintain its position. He added when he placed the gelding under full pressure rounding the home turn, 1 Best Jade Wan Zai continued to race greenly however was one paced in the home straight. He further added in his opinion, 1 Best Jade Wan Zai, which was having its first race start, would benefit from tonight’s racing experience and may be better suited on the turf track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Game Of Dreams (W Smith) - Jumped away awkwardly.
3 Filial Piety (B Yamzon) -Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
4 Mochi Mochi (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped 7 Windward. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance, Trainer K M Chin explained he was disappointed with the performance at the gelding’s first race start, however noted that 4 Mochi Mochi raced greenly that day and in his opinion did not appreciate racing inside of runners. He added the gelding had been working well in the lead up to tonight’s race and he instructed Apprentice Jockey C L Cheung to have the gelding placed outside of runners and up on the pace if circumstances permit which he was able to do. He further added that these factors as well as the addition of the lugging bit contributed to the improved performance tonight. The Stewards noted his explanation.
7 Windward (F Henrique) -Bumped by 4 Mochi Mochi on jumping away.
9 Power Battery (M Wepner) -Jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality other than the gelding was making abnormal respiratory noises. Trainer K C Chong was informed that he would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 1 December 2018 and in addition was informed that 9 Power Battery will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
