Race Report

RACE-5 THE PRAIA DE CHEOC VAN RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (53)

1 Winner Fortune (Apprentice C L Cheung) - A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer K M Chin was informed that the standard stand down period applies and before being permitted to race again, 1 Winner Fortune will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary certificate must be produced.
4 Go Go Mission (Y M Choi) -Was slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination at the request of the rider revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that 4 Go Go Mission will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
5 Infinite Treasure (B Yamzon) -Shifted in on jumping away and bushed 7 Star Of Yiu Cheung.
6 Shooting To Pins (J B Hamel) -Was slow to begin. For some distance approaching and passing the 700 metres was held up when unable to improve its position.
7 Star Of Yiu Cheung (H Lam) -On jumping away was brushed by 5 Infinite Treasure and became unbalanced.
11 For Community (W L Ho) -Was caught wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Game Of Dreams (D Barros) -Trainer C F Chan advised Stewards that should circumstances permit, 12 Game Of Dreams would be ridden back and with cover from its wide alley. The gelding settled towards the rear of the field.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards opened an inquiring into the riding tactics adopted upon 12 Game Of Dreams and in particular from the 400 metres and until approaching the 200 metres. Jockey D Barros when questioned stated that the gelding has a history of hanging out and he had been instructed to settle at the back of the field close the rail, in an attempt to have it race more truly today. He said that approaching the 400 metres he was unable to improve when disappointed for a run between 6 Shooting To Pins and 9 Special Steel and he could not come to the outside of 9 Special Steel because of 5 Infinite Treasure racing back and to its outside. He further added that on entering the straight he was waiting for a run to open between 6 Shooting To Pins and 9 Special Steel and again, could not come to the outside 9 Special Steel as he would have had lost too much ground. He said that when he did obtain clear running at the 200 metres his mount did have a tendency to lay out under pressure proving difficult for him to ride out in his usual manner. The Stewards adjourned the inquiry to Friday, 1 November 2019.
