Race Report

RACE-4 MACAU GOLD CUP (TRIPLE CROWN - 3RD LEG) (GROUP 1) OPEN 1800 METRES (353)

1 Sacred Capital (W L Ho) -Over the final 100 metres was inclined to shift out and away from 7 Star Of Yiu Cheung under pressure.
2 Pearl Green (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Approaching the winning post on the first occasion after being ridden hard in the early stages, had to be steadied when crowded for room between 12 Winnie Star and 13 Knows It All which shifted in slightly. A short distance later was again steadied when crowded for room between 12 Winnie Star which was taken out slightly by 3 Kelowna Star and 13 Knows It All which was taken in after being eased away from the heels of 1 Sacred Capital which shifted in when not fully clear. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey W L Ho the rider of 1 Sacred Capital with a severe reprimand and he was advised that he is to be sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground.
5 Luen On Dance Kid (W H Lao) -Raced wide without cover for the majority. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Hostwin Saturn (K H Yu) - For some distance leaving the 1400 metres raced fiercely. A post race veterinary examination at the request of the rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Star Of Yiu Cheung (F Henrique) -Over the final 100 metres was inclined to shift out under pressure.
8 Krystrump (T Appie) -Leaving the 1400 metres was inclined to hang out for some distance.
9 Qian Gua (B Yamzon) -For some distance leaving the 1400 metres raced fiercely.
10 Big Alloy (S Ladjadj) -Raced wide rounding the home turn. Rider reported his mount was reluctant to stride out in the early stages and on entering the back straight in an attempt to get his mount to travel more freely, he shifted 10 Big Alloy wider on the track. He added despite his urgings, 10 Big Alloy never improved and coming to the 800 metres he then elected to shift back in closer to the running rail. The Stewards noted his explanation, however Jockey S Ladjadj was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Hostwin Epanoui (J B Hamel) -Raced wide without cover leaving the 500 metres.
12 Winnie Star (D Barros) -Was slow to begin. Near the 1500 metres when being eased by its rider D Barros, hung out abruptly and had to be checked across the heels of 1 Sacred Capital which at the same time shifted in. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey W L Ho the rider of 1 Sacred Capital with a severe reprimand for permitting his mount to shift in when not fully clear. In assessing not to issue a charge of careless riding against Jockey Ho, the Stewards took into consideration the evidence provided by Jockey D Barros in that his mount’s racing manners had a bearing on this incident.
