Race Report

RACE-3 THE AUXERRE RATING 70-45 (CLASS 3) 1200 METRES (103)

1 Beauty Bolt (C L Cheung) -Jumped away awkwardly and was then slow into stride. Near the 100 metres had to be checked.
2 Hostwin Shadow (H Lam) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Winter Typhoon (K H Yu) -Near the 1000 metres shifted in and then had its hindquarters bumped by 7 Hostwin Achilles which at the same time shifted out. Approaching the 900 metres was bumped by 9 Famous Medal which shifted in. Near the 100 metres had to be checked. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Grexit (D Barros) -Bumped 5 Show Down on jumping away.
5 Show Down (W H Lao) -Bumped by 4 Grexit on jumping away. Near the 750 metres had to be steadied when momentarily racing in restricted room to the inside 6 Electroplate Alloy which shifted in slightly when laying in despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 100 metres had to be steadied.
6 Electroplate Alloy (T Appie) -Near the 950 metres had to be steadied and blundered when racing in restricted room between 8 Me Whee and 7 Hostwin Achilles which was taken in by 3 Winter Typhoon which after having its hindquarters bumped by 7 Hostwin Achilles then shifted in slightly when racing tight to the inside of 9 Famous Medal which had shifted in. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards advised the riders of 3 Winter Typhoon (K H Yu), 7 Hostwin Achilles (L Corrales) and 9 Famous Medal (W L Ho) to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
7 Hostwin Achilles (L Corrales) -Near the 1000 metres shifted out and bumped 3 Winter Typhoon which at the same time shifted in. Leaving the 950 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 3 Winter Typhoon which was taken in slightly after being bumped by 9 Famous Medal which shifted in whilst being ridden along before being corrected by its rider. A short distance later then began to race ungenerously and had to be steadied away from the heels of 3 Winter Typhoon which shifted in. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards advised the riders of 3 Winter Typhoon (K H Yu) and 9 Famous Medal (W L Ho) to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Raced wide without cover throughout.
8 Me Whee (F Henrique) -Leaving 300 metres was disappointed for a run between 3 Winter Typhoon and 12 Thar and was obliged to shift out around the heels of 12 Thar to obtain clear running. Near the 150 metres was disappointed for a run between 7 Hostwin Achilles and 6 Electroplate Alloy.
10 Lucky Gold (S Ladjadj) -Leaving the 800 metres commenced to race ungenerously and near the 750 metres when continuing to race ungenerously shifted out and had to be steadied away the heels of 7 Hostwin Achilles. Trainer J Lau was informed that in view of the racing manners of 10 Lucky Gold a warning had been placed on the gelding.
11 Mongolian Dynasty (B Yamzon) - Proved difficult to load. Trainer K H Leong was informed that in view of the barrier manners of 11 Mongolian Dynasty, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that 11 Mongolian Dynasty has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. Shortly after the start was tightened for room between 10 Lucky Gold and 5 Show Down which shifted out after being bumped by 4 Grexit. Near the 450 metres raced up onto the heels of 5 Show Down and had to be steadied. Over the concluding stages was awkwardly placed on the heels of 7 Hostwin Achilles and was unable to be ridden out.
12 Thar (S Nakano) -Was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 100 metres where 1 Beauty Bolt and 3 Winter Typhoon had to be checked and 5 Show Down had to be steadied. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Beauty Bolt (C L Cheung), 3 Winter Typhoon (K H Yu), 5 Show Down (W H Lao) and 8 Me Whee (F Henrique). Jockey F Henrique the rider of 8 Me Whee pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 5 Show Down which was steadied and taken in onto 1 Beauty Bolt which had to be checked which in turn shifted in onto 3 Winter Typhoon which was also checked, resulting in 5 Show Down, 1 Beauty Bolt and 3 Winter Typhoon all losing their rightful running. Jockey F Henrique’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of one racemeeting covering the meeting of Sunday, 7 February 2021. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey F Henrique’s guilty plea, his disciplinary record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
