RACE-3 THE PALERMO RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (222)
2 Red Phoenix (Y M Choi) -Rider reported that his mount blundered on numerous occasions and in his opinion did not handle today’s track condition. A post race veterinary examination revealed 2 Red Phoenix had bled from its left nostril. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that he would be required to present 2 Red Phoenix to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 19 April 2021.
3 Roaring Fans (C L Cheung) -Was held up rounding the home turn and on entering the home straight was steadied when disappointed for a run between 1 Lucky Gold and 8 Golden Key. Was then unable to establish clear running until near the 250 metres.
5 Marqula (T Appie) -Reared on jumping away. Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.
6 For Community (D Barros) -Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances where Jockey C L Cheung the rider of 3 Roaring Fans after having arrived at the barriers, then returned back to the Jockeys Room. Jockey C L Cheung stated that after arriving at the barriers, he realized that he was wearing a different safety vest which was lighter in weight than what he had weighed out with. Jockey C L Cheung pleaded guilty to a charge under MJC Rule 121 (v) in that he changed his equipment without the permission of the Stewards after weighing out. He was issued with a monetary fine of HK$2,000. Jockey C L Cheung further pleaded guilty to a charge under MJC Rule 122 (iv) in that he weighed out with equipment that were of a design not approved by the Stewards. He was issued with a monetary fine of HK$5,000. In determining penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey C L Cheung’s guilty plea and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
