Race Report

RACE-4 THE OTTAWA RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (229)

1 Fantastic Friends (L Corrales) -Was slow into stride.
2 Go Fish Go (T Appie) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Half Lamma Boss (W H Lao) -Raced wide without cover until near the 600 metres.
4 Guillocharm (F Henrique) -Near the 50 metres had to be steadied when buffeted between 5 Ronson and 6 Show Down.
5 Ronson (Y M Choi) -Was slow into stride. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Near the 50 metres shifted in slightly and had its hindquarters contacted by 4 Guillocharm which at the same time shifted out slightly.
6 Show Down (M Tanaka) -Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event near the 50 metres. Shifted out under pressure and had its hindquarters bumped by 4 Guillocharm which after bumping with 5 Ronson shifted in.
10 Die Casting Alloy (K H Yu) -Was held up rounding the home turn and was unable to establish clear running until near the 300 metres where it was shifted in across the heels of 8 City Hunter.
11 Ocean Warrior (S Nakano) -Leaving the 1300 metres was momentarily inconvenienced by 9 Flash Shadow which shifted out slightly when laying out. Was held up rounding the home turn and was unable to establish clear running until near the 300 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 50 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 4 Guillocharm (F Henrique), 5 Ronson (Y M Choi) and 6 Show Down. It was established that near the 50 metres 4 Guillocharm shifted out slightly away from 6 Show Down and then bumped the hindquarters of 5 Ronson which at the same time shifted in slightly. As a result 4 Guillocharm then shifted back in and made contact with the hindquarters of 6 Show Down which at the same time shifted out under pressure resulting in 4 Guillocharm having to be steadied when buffeted between 5 Ronson and 6 Show Down. After considering all of the circumstances, as the Stewards could not portion blame to any one rider, they took no further action other than to advise all riders to exercise more care.
