Race Report

RACE-5 THE HO MAN TIN RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1510 METRES (334)
The start of the race was delayed as a barrier gate required repair work

1 Fortune Ahead (C L Cheung) -Shortly after the start brushed with 9 Copartners Glory. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion brushed with 6 Happy Happy Happy. On entering the home straight shifted in and was then corrected by its rider.
2 Lucky To Win (L Corrales) -Was slow to begin. For some distance leaving the 1300 metres raced fiercely. Was held up in the early stages of the home straight. Near the 100 metres had to be eased outwards away from the heels of 1 Fortune Ahead which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey C L Cheung the rider of 1 Fortune Ahead was issued a severe reprimand and was advised he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times.
3 Rose Hero (Apprentice A Liu) -Near the 1300 metres had to be steadied when laying in onto the heels of 4 Treasurelakebuddy which at the same time was taken out slightly by 7 Danish Star which in turn was taken out slightly by 10 Farmer's Voice which in turn was taken out slightly by 1 Fortune Ahead which shifted out slightly. As the Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no action was taken. Near the 850 metres was shifted in when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Treasurelakebuddy.
5 Akeli Sword (S Nakano) -Near the 1300 metres was taken wider on the track by 3 Rose Hero which shifted out after laying in onto the heels of 4 Treasurelakebuddy which at the same time was taken out slightly by 7 Danish Star which in turn was taken out slightly by 10 Farmer's Voice which in turn was taken out slightly by 1 Fortune Ahead which shifted out slightly. As the Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no action was taken.
6 Happy Happy Happy (K F Choi) -Approaching the winning post on the first occasion brushed with 1 Fortune Ahead. Was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Copartners Glory (S H Huang) -Shortly after the start brushed with 1 Fortune Ahead. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion had to be eased when tightened for room between 1 Fortune Ahead and 10 Farmer's Voice which shifted in when laying in and away from 7 Danish Star. As the Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no action was taken.
11 Honey Biscuit (A A Rivera) -Stood flat footed of its own accord and lost considerable ground. Trainer S Chow was informed that 11 Honey Biscuit will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry” Sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to review the patrol films of the start to establish whether 11 Honey Biscuit had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 11 Honey Biscuit stood flat footed of its own accord and lost considerable ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that 11 Honey Biscuit had been afforded a fair start, correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.
