Race Report

RACE-3 THE KUMAMOTO RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1500 METRES (185)

1 Follow The Nature (M Tanaka) - After passing the 600 metres had to be restrained from the heels of 3 Cumberbatch. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Cumberbatch (K H Yu) - Approaching the 800 metres, had to be steadied (See inquiry report). After passing the 600 metres, was taken out off its course (See inquiry report).
7 Master Hunter (C L Cheung) - Approaching the 600 metres had to be steadied when close to the heels of 6 Monsignor. Then near the 400 metres, was restrained when again close to heels of 6 Monsignor.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 800 metres. Evidence was taken from the rider of 5 Famous Talent (I Poullis) and 3 Cumberbatch (K H Yu). It was established that approaching the 800 metres, Jockey I Poullis, rider of 5 Famous Talent, permitted his mount to shift in when not fully clear of 3 Cumberbatch, resulting in 3 Cumberbatch having to be steadied. In all the circumstances Jockey I Poullis the rider of 5 Famous Talent was severely reprimanded.

The Stewards inquired into an incident after passing the 600 metres. It was established that 5 Famous Talent (I Poullis) shifted out to obtain a run to the outside of 7 Master Hunter, and in doing so, took 3 Cumberbatch out of its course. Jockey I Poullis the rider of 5 Famous Talent was reprimanded and notified to ensure that he is entitled to shift when searching for runs.
