Race Report

RACE-5 THE BATHURST RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1350 METRES (257)

1 Organic Winner (C Perkins) - On jumping away, had to be checked when tightened for room between 2 Racing Brothers, which was taken in slightly by 11 Shaibanat, and 9 Treasurelake Super which shifted out abruptly despite efforts of its rider.
2 Racing Brothers (S Nakano) - On jumping away was buffeted between 11 Shaibanat and 1 Organic Winner and became unbalanced.
5 Courier Specialty (O Chavez) - After jumping away became unbalanced after being bumped by 6 Pearl Big Brother.
6 Pearl Big Brother (Apprentice X C Liang) - On entering the course proper, was inconvenienced when placed in restricted room between 3 Carry On For Ages and 5 Courier Specialty which shifted out slightly when brushed by 12 Show Down.
7 Topmountain King (S H Huang) - Faltered after jumping away.
8 Captain Brentford (L Corrales) - Beaten favorite. L Corrales was questioned as to the tactics adopted in particular his riding through the middle stages. He explained that after beginning only fairly, he rode his mount along with the whip to try and obtain a more forward position. He said despite his urgings, the gelding did not respond and he settled further back than anticipated. He said after entering the back straight, and as his urgings with the whip had been unsuccessful, he then attempted to balance his mount with the expectation that 8 Captain Brentford may then pick up and start travelling on the bit. He said that after passing the 800 metres, his vision was impaired by the sand on his visor and he attempted to shift wider to avoid the kickback. He said that he then commenced to test his mount from near the 600 metres and in his opinion it was somewhat one-paced to the line albeit that it passed several tiring runners. In all the circumstances, Stewards notified L Corrales that he must ride all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query.
9 Treasurelake Super (I Poullis) - Shifted out abruptly when the gates were released despite efforts of its rider. Performed below market expectations. Rider stated that with the step-up in distance today his mount did not finish off the race as he would have expected. Beaten in excess of 28 lengths. Trainer W K Lam was informed that 9 Treasurelake Super will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Wealth Profit (K H Yu) - Stumbled on pulling up and dislodged the rider. Trainer S Chow was informed that he would be required to present 10 Wealth Profit to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 12 June 2023.
11 Shaibanat (M Alvarez) - On jumping away bumped 2 Racing Brothers and became unbalanced after having its hind quarters turned.
