RACE-3 MACAU DERBY TRIAL (GROUP 3) RATING 4YO () 1500 METRES (255)

3 Sheng Tong Viva (L Corrales) - At the entrance to the home straight was inconvenienced by 8 Aeras (K F Choi) which shifted out slightly when attempting to improve around 11 Precious Asset. K F Choi was spoken to advisedly.
7 Super Six (Y M Choi) - Beaten in excess of 36 lengths. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that 7 Super Six will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary certificate is produced. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was severely lame in its left front leg.
8 Aeras (K F Choi) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Fantastic Fortune (M Alvarez) - Commenced to give ground at the 700 metres and was eased down from the 400 metres. Beaten 57 lengths. Trainer K M Chin was informed that he would be required to present 12 Fantastic Fortune to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 12 June 2023. In addition in view that 12 Fantastic Fortune had been beaten 57 lengths, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in and official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident near the 150 metres. K F Choi pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that he permitted his mount to shift in when not fully of 10 Armed, resulting in 10 Armed having to be checked and losing its rightful running. K F Choi had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race days covering the meetings of Sunday, 2 July and Saturday, 8 July 2023 and fined the sum of HKD 3,500. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, the guilty plea, other mitigating factors put forward by K F Choi and his careless riding record. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
