Race Report

RACE-3 THE AIRDRIEONIANS RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (310)

3 Aeras (M Tanaka) - Raced keenly in the back straight.
4 Subtle Mind (K H Yu) - Blundered on jumping. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 metres, the whip of the rider K H Yu became entangled with the reins. Approaching the 100 metres had to be checked across the heels of 1 Luen On Poseidon. (See inquiry report)
5 Association Eight (A Da Silva) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality
8 Famous Rainbow (S Nakano) - After jumping away was buffeted momentarily between 1 Luen On Poseidon and 3 Aeras which shifted out slightly despite the efforts of its rider.
10 Famous Anson (K F Choi) - Was slow to begin. Around the 450 metres had to be steadied when close to the heels of 1 Luen On Poseidon.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 100 metres. Apprentice X C Liang, rider of 1 Luen On Poseidon, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of 4 Subtle Mind which had to be checked across the heels of 1 Luen On Poseidon. Apprentice X C Liang had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 race day, covering the race meeting of Sunday, 20 August 2023, and fined the sum of HKD 4000. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, the guilty plea and Apprentice X C Liang’s riding record. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
