RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident around 50 metres after the start. On the evidence, it was established that at that point, 7 Baby Shark had to be checked and clipped the heels of 1 Flying Culture when tightened for room between 1 Flying Culture and 3 Treasurelakebuddy (Apprentice Tesuri) which shifted slightly in and away from 5 Rayquaza (S Nakano) after being brushed by that gelding which had shifted in. Stewards were of the view that S Nakano had made sufficient effort to correct his mount as it contacted 3 Treasurelakebuddy, and noted that Apprentice Tesuri was unable to shift his mount out at the time of the incident due to 5 Rayquaza being tight to the outside of 3 Treasurelakebuddy. In all the circumstances, S Nakano and Apprentice Tesuri were notified that they must do their utmost to protect their fellow riders at all times
Apprentice Tesuri, rider of 3 Treasurelakebuddy was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that after passing the 100 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in, resulting in 5 Rayquaza being tightened for room, losing its rightful running and having to be checked. Apprentice Tesuri had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 race day, covering the racemeeting of Saturday 25 November 2023. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account factors raised by Trainer W K Lam, master of Apprentice Tesuri, and other mitigating factors as well the level of carelessness and interference.
