Race Report

RACE-3 THE FLEMINGTON RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1350 METRES (45)
This race was rescheduled to start at 9:10pm.

1 Cali Champion (R Curatolo) –Raced wide without cover.
2 Vigor Partner (A Calder) – Was marginally slow to begin and then checked when tightened for room between 9 Honest Boy and 8 My Masterpiece. Near the 700 metres after improving to the inside of 6 Yanson which was laying in, then had to be checked when tightened by 6 Yanson which may have been taken in by 7 Gem Soldier. On the evidence before them, the Stewards were not satisfied that a charge could be laid against anyone rider, therefore all riders were notified that they must exercise utmost care when in similar circumstances in future.
3 Brave Rhino (L Corrales) – At the turn near the 1200 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room between 9 Honey Boy which shifted out slightly and 7 Gen Soldier which shifted in. Disappointing performance. Rider reported that after receiving some interference early in race, his mount than hung out placing him at a disadvantage. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 King Achilles (B Yamzon) –Race wide without cover.
8 My Masterpiece (L Salles) –Rider L Salles was reprimanded for the manner in which he used his whip when the horse was being loaded in the barrier. Shortly after the start was checked when tightened for room between 6 Yanson and 2 Vigor Partner which was taken in by 9 Honest Boy.
