Race Report

RACE-3 IACM LUNAR NEW YEAR TROPHY RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1800 METRES (137)

1 More Than Happy (W Smith) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
4 Grand Double Win (R Curatolo) –Was inclined to over race in the early stages.
7 River Treasure (L Salles) –Was inclined to lay out rounding the first turn. Near the 250 metres was tightened onto the running rail and raced in restricted room for a considerable distance when 3 Lucky And Wealthy shifted in when it was not sufficiently clear. Continued to race in restricted room until near the 100 metres when it was obliged to steady and shift out across heels to obtain clear running.
9 Peace Get Fortune (C Perkins) –Near the 1300 metres was buffeted for a short distance between 10 Nothing To Say and 5 Northern Legend which was taken out slightly by 7 River Treasure which hung out.
10 Nothing To Say (Y M Choi) –Near the 1400 metres was eased when momentarily tightened for room by 12 Same Beauty which shifted in. Raced wide without cover throughout.
11 Wyoming (K K Lai)- Was slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 3 Lucky And Wealthy pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 250 metres whilst riding his mount along, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 7 River Treasure which was tightened onto the running rail and placed in restricted room until near the 100 metres where it was steadied and shifted out across heels to obtain clear running. His licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings to cover the meetings of 12th and 17th February 2017. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his good riding record and the degree of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
