Race Report

RACE-3 THE HUPEI RATING 70-40 (CLASS 3) 1700 METRES (63)

3 Classical Music (B Yamzon) –Was slightly slow to begin, was then brushed by 7 Flying Team which shifted out and as a result lost some ground.
4 Easy To Rich (R Stewart) – Rider when questioned as to the reason he eased the gelding down near the 200 metres. He explained that his mount failed to respond when placed under pressure rounding the home turn, laid in in the straight and did not feel right in its action. Trainer M C Tam was informed to present the gelding to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 14 November 2015.
7 Flying Team (A Calder) –Raced three wide without cover throughout.
8 Modigmaster (K H Yu) –Shifted in on jumping away and bumped 1 Luenyat Blackberry. Passing the 700 metres had to be steadied when close to heels.
9 So Happy (L Corrales) –Disappointing. Rider reported that his mount failed to respond to his urgings. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
“Correct Weight” was delayed when Jockey A Calder the rider of 7 Flying Team, 2nd placegetter requested to view the Stewards patrol video before deciding not to lodge an objection against 6 Total Management (W H Lao) being declared the winner. Stewards were also satisfied that there were insufficient grounds for an objection and correct weight was declared. It was established that near the 100 metres 6 Total Management shifted out and brushed 7 Flying Team and shortly after this 7 Flying Team shifted in towards 6 Total Management with both horses making contact. The horses then raced tight in the run to the line.
